Aprendiendo Español con Tecnología
Welcome to Aprendiendo Español con Tecnología, a blog dedicated to learning the Spanish language via digital resources and platforms. This blog is for both students and teachers, or anyone interested in utilizing 21st-century technology to learn a new language. The purpose of this blog is to explore, via a blog, an app, and a website, what would be the best way to learn the Spanish language.
Objectives:
To discover the realities of using digital resources to learn the Spanish language.
To discover the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating technology in the classroom or on one's own.
What Students Learn From The Experience
Commenting on blogs and having a blog of their own inevitably fosters increased participation. Students learn Spanish via blogs with these two opportunities. First, they get to respond to blog posts on various topics of interest to them, so commenting is a personalized, not a boring experience. Second, having a blog via Weebly allows them to have direct control over content, which fosters ownership and investment.
Yet there are two disadvantages as well. One is that blogs won't always be moderated, so for someone still in the learning process, it's very hard to learn complex grammar/vocabulary without moderation. The second is with factual accuracy. Not everything made available online is accurate or relevant in the classroom. But by and large, as long as blogs are vetted with collaborative opportunities and learned through proper moderation, they are an excellent learning tool.
